Nomination and Selection Process:

  1. After four weeks of the regular season (approximately May 27th), which should be two-thirds of the season, Managers from each team will nominate all deserving players for their respective age group. All nominations will be due by the end of the week (approximately May 30th).
  2. Players should be nominated based on the following criteria:

    • Overall Baseball Ability
    • Competitiveness
    • Coachability / Attitude
    • Baseball IQ (Knowledge of the game)
    • Defensive Ability
    • Offensive Ability (Contact & Power Hitting)
    • Pitching & Catching Ability
  3. All nominations will be submitted via google forms directly to the respective Commissioner.
  4. Once the appropriate number of Nominations are submitted, player commitment is needed (see section 5). Voting should not happen without all players commitment.
  5. Players nominated for the All-Star team, in addition to their parents/guardians, will sign a Commitment / Eligibility Letter. They will be committing to all games played and all practices.
  6. The Commissioner from each respective age level will then organize a meeting among all of the Managers to discuss the nominations and vote for each team. Meeting should take place prior to the Thursday after nominations are due (approximately June 5th), with notification of team by Friday of that week (approximately June 7th).
  7. District 5 and Little League International rules stipulate that each team carries a minimum of 12 players and a maximum of 14 players. Thus, each team should carry a minimum of 12 players.
  8. At the meeting to vote on the team(s), each manager that nominated a player will lead a discussion about the merits of their player. After all players have been discussed, there will be a vote to determine the first 11 kids on the team. Each manager in attendance will vote for 10 starters and 2 reserves. Each starter vote is worth 1 point. Each reserve vote is worth a ½ point. A member of the board who does not have a son/daughter involved in the vote (the Commissioner, Director, Vice President of Baseball, or another board member if need be) will collect and tally up the votes. The 11 players with the most points will be selected to the team.
  9. After the 11 players are chosen, the manager will be voted on. The same person will collect and tally those votes. Once the manager is chosen, the manager for each All-Star team will be allowed to select one remaining player from the pool of nominations, but has the option to choose up to three more (for a total of 14 players). The manager does not need to decide at the meeting who will be selected but should decide within a couple of days to avoid speculation about the teams getting out prior to their announcement.
  10. The 8-Year-Old Sparkler Team will be determined based on the following:

    • Nominations from AA and AAA Managers
    • Tryout to occur in early June
    • All players nominated, in addition to their parents / guardians, must sign commitment letters prior to tryouts. They will be committing to attending all games and all practices. Any player that cannot fully commit will not be considered for the team. The commitment rules applicable to all other all-star teams apply.
    • Team will be selected by AA and AAA coaches and commissioners based on performance at tryout and performance throughout season.
    • Manager for the Sparkler team will be selected by Vice President of Baseball in coordination with commissioners for AA and AAA.
